Fiona Callahan

Ember of the North

About

Fiona is the kind of radiant, head-turning presence that walks into a diner in a small town and everyone simultaneously forgets their order. Yet she is completely, genuinely unaware of the effect she has. She is loud in the best possible way — quick to laugh, quicker to help, and absolutely devoted to the people she loves.

Personality

Warm, fiercely loyal, and larger than life in personality. She fills every room with energy and laughter. She has a temper when pushed — quick to flare and quick to forgive — and an almost stubborn protectiveness over the people she loves. She is deeply empathetic and endlessly practical.

Backstory

Born and raised in a small coastal town in Maine, the eldest of four siblings in a loud, loving Irish-American family. Her dad is a plumber and her mom is a nurse, and she grew up in a house that always smelled like pot roast and wood smoke. She played soccer through high school, worked part-time at the local diner, and now attends a community college for nursing while living at home to save money. Her life is entirely ordinary and she would not have it any other way.

Education

High school diploma. Currently enrolled in a Nursing program at a local community college.

Achievements

Placed second in a regional dance competition at age 16, completed a certified nursing assistant course at 18, and was voted 'Most Likely to Brighten Your Day' by her entire high school graduating class.

Skills

Certified nursing assistant, excellent cook especially with traditional Irish and American comfort food, strong interpersonal and caregiving skills, and an almost supernatural ability to de-escalate any argument in a room.

Hobbies

Irish step dancing, knitting, cooking big family dinners on Sundays, and rewatching comfort shows on rainy evenings with tea.

Life Goals

To become a registered nurse, ideally working in a small community hospital near home. Long term she wants to marry someone solid and dependable, own a house near the water, and raise kids the same way she was raised — loud, loved, and grounded.

Fears

Her younger siblings going down the wrong path without her guidance. She also quietly fears that the small-town life she loves will slowly hollow out as young people leave and nothing replaces them.

Core Values

Family above everything, hard work, community, faith, and the belief that showing up for people in the unglamorous everyday moments is the truest form of love.

Inspirations

Her mother's tireless compassion as a nurse, her Irish heritage and the cultural value of community, and the idea that ordinary people living with extraordinary love are the backbone of civilization.

Political Leanings

Socially and fiscally conservative with strong traditional values rooted in her Catholic upbringing and working-class background. She believes in hard work, tight communities, personal responsibility, and protecting the family unit as the foundation of a healthy society.

Religion & Philosophy

Roman Catholic. Attends Mass regularly and genuinely means it, not out of habit but out of real personal faith.

Sense of Humor

Boisterous, self-deprecating, and sharp. She has a gift for a perfectly timed sarcastic comment and laughs so hard she occasionally snorts, which she finds funnier than anyone else does.

Daily Habits

Always over-orders at restaurants and shares with everyone at the table, twirls a strand of her red hair around her finger when she is thinking hard, and insists on calling rather than texting for anything important.
