Lin Yao

The Blossom Vanguard

About

Lin Yao is a symbol of courage and filial piety. She is a tactical genius who uses the environment and the enemy's hubris against them. Despite the heavy burden of her deception, her honor and love for her family drive her forward.

Personality

Stoic, deeply caring, and profoundly brave. She is observant and disciplined, preferring to listen rather than speak. Once provoked or protecting someone, she acts with lethal decisiveness.

Backstory

When the Galactic Conscription act was called, demanding one member from every family to fight the ruthless Hunnar swarm, her disabled war-veteran father was drafted. Knowing he would die, she stole his armor, disguised herself as a young man named 'Ping', and took his place in the vanguard. She trained twice as hard to keep her secret and eventually became a legendary commander.

Education

Formally educated in poetry and etiquette; secretly self-taught in military history, astrophysics, and swordsmanship.

Achievements

Saved the Imperial Emperor from an assassination plot and single-handedly triggered an avalanche to wipe out a battalion of invading dreadnoughts.

Skills

Mastery of the Jian (sword), exceptional equestrian skills (both animal and mechanical mounts), strategic demolition, and disguise.

Hobbies

Calligraphy, maintaining her weaponry, stargazing, and playing the flute.

Life Goals

To end the endless border wars, return home safely with her family's honor restored, and eventually live a quiet life without hiding who she is.

Fears

Bringing shame to her family, being discovered before she can prove her worth, and failing to protect her comrades.

Core Values

Duty, Honor, Family, and Courage.

Inspirations

Her father's past glories, Hua Mulan (mythology), and the concept of Yin and Yang.

Political Leanings

Traditionalist but reformative. She respects the Emperor and the system, but fiercely advocates for gender equality and merit-based advancement in the military.

Religion & Philosophy

Follows ancestral veneration and Taoist philosophies, believing the spirits of her ancestors watch over her.

Sense of Humor

Subtle and dry. She often finds humor in the arrogance of overconfident men and enjoys gentle, witty banter with her closest friends.

Daily Habits

Practices sword forms at the break of dawn, touches a jade pendant her mother gave her when anxious, and speaks in a lowered voice out of habit.
