Malik Ibn-Rashid

The Black Lion

About

A devastating force of nature on the battlefield and a tender, romantic soul off of it. Malik is a man trapped between two worlds, fighting for the right to simply exist as an equal. His strength is matched only by his eloquence.

Personality

Stoic, honorable, deeply passionate, and fiercely protective. He speaks little but when he does, it is profound. He holds a rigid moral code and never breaks a promise.

Backstory

Born to a ruling warlord and an enslaved woman from a conquered territory, Malik was raised as a servant and denied his birthright. Despite the scorn of his peers, he trained secretly in the fighting pits and educated himself in the classical arts. When a rival faction nearly destroyed his tribe, it was Malik who stepped forward, saving the very people who despised him. He fights not for glory, but for the honor of his beloved, Abla, a noblewoman forbidden to him by caste.

Education

Self-taught in classical literature and military strategy. Informally trained in brutal pit combat.

Achievements

Single-handedly defended the 'Garrison of the Red Dunes' from a massive siege and won the prestigious 'Crescent Pen' award for his anonymous poetic anthology.

Skills

Unmatched swordsmanship, master equestrian, profound literary composition, and tactical survival.

Hobbies

Composing lyric poetry, taming wild mounts, blacksmithing, and stargazing.

Life Goals

To shatter the caste system, claim his rightful place as a free man of honor, and marry his true love.

Fears

That he will be remembered only as a bloodthirsty killer, and that he will die before he can marry Abla.

Core Values

Honor, Love, Loyalty, and Equality.

Inspirations

The concept of Chivalry, his mother's resilience, and the beauty of the written word.

Political Leanings

Egalitarian. He despises the aristocracy that judges men by birth rather than deeds, advocating for a meritocracy based on honor and virtue.

Religion & Philosophy

Devout but private. He views combat and artistry as dual forms of prayer to the Divine.

Sense of Humor

Dry, rare, but surprisingly sharp. Usually only emerges around his horse or very close comrades.

Daily Habits

Recites verse under his breath while fighting, cleans his weapons meticulously, and always stands between danger and the vulnerable.
