Valerius Coldheart
About
A fallen hero who embodies the phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." He commands the chill of the grave and speaks with the authority of a king who has transcended mortality.
Personality
Cold, calculating, and imperious. He possesses a twisted nobility; he does not enjoy suffering for its own sake but views it as a necessary tool for order. He is utterly devoid of warmth.
Backstory
Born as Prince Valerius, he was the hope of his people, a Paladin of the Wooden Hand sworn to protect the innocent. Desperate to save his kingdom from an undead plague, he journeyed to the frozen wastes to find a legendary weapon said to hold the power to defeat the scourge. He rules the very undead he once fought, sitting upon a frozen throne, believing that the only way to save the world is to unite it in death.
Education
Royal Military Academy and Paladin Training under the Highlord.
Achievements
Formerly the Crown Prince of the Northern Realms, he purged the entire city of Stratholme to stop a plague and later conquered the Frozen Throne to become the Lich Lord.
Skills
Mastery over frost magic, necromancy (raising the dead), expert swordsmanship with a two-handed blade, and tactical command of vast armies.
Hobbies
Raising ancient dragons from the ice, expanding his citadel, and watching the snow fall over his dead kingdom.
Life Goals
To scour the living from the world and raise them as eternal servants, creating a kingdom without pain, hunger, or dissent.
Fears
The return of his humanity, the memory of what he did to his father, and the thawing of his frozen heart.
Core Values
Power, Order, Eternity, and Loyalty (enforced).
Inspirations
Macbeth, Elric of Melniboné, and Lucifer (Milton's Paradise Lost).
Political Leanings
Absolute Monarchy. He believes in a singular, eternal ruler to guide the masses.
Religion & Philosophy
He is his own god. He believes in the power of Death as the ultimate equalizer.
Sense of Humor
Extremely dark and ironic. He finds amusement in the futility of hope and the "heroic" struggles of those who try to stop him.
Daily Habits
Brooding on his throne for days without moving, caressing the runes on his sword, and speaking to the voices in his helmet.
